GUS J. CHOLIS

SOUTH BEND - Gus J. Cholis died on Friday, August 14, 2009, after a short illness. He was born in South Bend, the son of Theodore and Despina Penelope Cholis, and resided here his entire life.

Three brothers, Nicholas, William and Thomas, and a sister, Georgia, predeceased him. He is survived by a brother, Alex, of South Bend, and a sister, Stacie M. Fausch, of Richmond, California.

Gus was a graduate of South Bend Central High School and the University Of Notre Dame.

He was formerly employed by the former Ball Band Corporation, which later became the U.S. Rubber Company. During World War II, he served with the U.S. Navy in North Africa.

Visitation will take place from 4 to 8 p.m., Monday, August 17th in the HICKEY Funeral Home, 17131 Cleveland Road (entrances are open from Cleveland Road) and from 9:30 am until service Tuesday morning in St. Anthonys. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church on Tuesday, August 18, 2009 at 10 a.m. He will be entombed at Highland Cemetery Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that a donation be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
