SOUTH BEND - Mr. Elmer Lee Carr, 84, formerly of South Bend, who resided on East State Boulevard, Fort Wayne, IN, passed away at 12:10 p.m. Thursday, January 8, in Village Oaks Assisted Living, Fort Wayne. Elmer was born on July 12, 1924, in South Bend, to Percy and Edna Mae Williams Carr, who both preceded him in death.

He attended South Bend Central High School and Indiana University South Bend. On September 7, 1946, Elmer was united in Holy Matrimony to Ocealene Parker, who preceded him in death in April 1993.

He worked for over 30 years as a physical plant director for Indiana University South Bend. He also served as a past president for the South Bend Board of Safety. He loved gardening and doing crossword puzzles.

Survivors left to cherish his memory include his loving daughter, Cheryl (Willie) Taylor of Ft. Wayne; two grandchildren, Badili Love of Summersville, CA, and Maisha Love of Indianapolis; two sisters, Dorothy Lovings and Goldie Ivory, both of South Bend; along with a host of other friends and relatives.

Funeral services for Mr. Elmer Lee Carr will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, January 14, in the Pentecostal Cathedral Church of God in Christ, with burial following at Highland Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday, Jan. 14, in the Pentecostal Cathedral Church of God in Christ from noon to 1 p.m. Arrangements have been entrusted to Alford's Mortuary where bereavement messages may be e-mailed to alfordsmortuary@comcast.net, c/o the Carr family.
