George A. Wittner

CHARLOTTE, FL -George A. Wittner Jr., 87, Port Charlotte, FL, and Old Forge, NY, died Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2009, in Port Charlotte. He was born in South Bend, Indiana, the son of George and Alice Wittner.

He retired from Bendix after 35 years. George was a member and past Deacon of First Presb. Church, So. Bend. George belonged to St. Joseph Lodge #45, F&A.M., Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite and the Elks Club #235 of South Bend.

Survivors include his wife, Janice Harrington Wittner; daughter, Michelle (Tom) Bohm of Clarksville, AR; and son, Gregory (Joan) Wittner of Mishawaka, IN. Stepdaughters, Linda Harrington of Port Charlotte, FL, and Bonnie (Jim) Tracy of Old Forge, NY; and a stepson, John (Debbie) Harrington of Thendara NY. He leaves granddaughters, Mandy (Dan) Voreis of South Bend, IN, and Kristen (Jeff) Smith of Clarksville, AR. He leaves seven great-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren. George was pre-deceased by his wife, Lucille Wunsch Wittner, in 1986, and by a great-grandson, Ryan (Brandy) Wittner, in September 2008.

A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
