Charles L. Hess Jr.

Charles L. Hess Jr., 54, of 26407 Chain-O-Lakes, was dead on arrival at 4:28 p.m. Monday in Memorial Hospital after suffering an apparent heart attack in his home. Hess was an energy control division, Bendix Corp. employee, having worked there 25 .years. Born on July 4, 1920, in South Bend, he had lived here his lifetime.

On Feb. 12, 1955, in North Liberty, he married Phyllis D. Snyder. who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Charles L. III of Mishawaka and Henry C of South Bend; three grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Betty Cassler and Mrs. Elsie Wooley, both of South Bend, and Mrs.Grace Geraghty of Mishawaka, and two brothers, Carl of Toledo. Ohio, and George of Santa Ana, Calif.

Services will be at II a.m. Thursday in the Orvis-Palmer Funeral Home, 336 N. Main. Rev. Earle Bowen, pastor of the Lydick Missionary, Church, will officiate. Emtombment will be in the Riverview Mausolueum. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.

Hess was a World War II Army veteran.
