J. C. FOHRER, 23, DIES IN ACTION
Infantryman Slain in Battle for France
John C. Fohrer, age 23, was killed in action in France July 6, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John C. Fohrer, 1707 Sunnymede avenue, were notified last night in a telegram from the war department.
He was serving with the infantry, having been sent overseas last April. He was inducted into the army in October, 1942, and received basic training at Camp Atterbury, Ind., and Camp Breckenridge,, Ky.
He was a graduate of Central Senior High school and attended the Indiana State Teacher's college, Terre Haute. Born July 3, 1921, he is survived by his parents and a younger brother, Dick, at home.

The body of Sgt. John C. Fohrer, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Fohrer. 1707 Sunnymede avenue. killed in action in Normandy July 6, 1944. will arrive here Wednes-day, with military escort. It will be taken immediately to Highland cemetery where interment will he made in the mausoleum. Rev. Philip V. Benham C.S.C., pastor of St. Joseph Catholic church, will read the burial rites.
