Eugene D. Alexander

ELKHART — Eugene D. Alexander, 88, of Atria Eastlake Terrace, died July 23, 2010, at 10:15 A.M. in Elkhart General Hospital. He was born on March 5, 1922, in South Bend, Ind., to Herbert and Tempa (Tom) Alexander.

He married Avis Leith, who preceded him in death in 1991. Survivors include a sister, Bonnie L. Rauh of Louisville, KY; two nephews, Michael J. (Viodelda) Rauh of Tucson, AZ., and Richard D. (Susan) Rauh of Louisville. KY; two nieces, Susan (Claire) Schockey of Atlanta, GA, and Sheryl Alexander-Walter of St. Petersburg, FL; and a close friend, Maria Merino of Elkhart. He was preceded in death by a brother, Richard. 

Friends may call two hours prior to the 11 AM funeral on Wednesday in Stemm Lawson Peterson Funeral Home, Elkhart. Eugene was a retired bookkeeper in South Bend. He was a member of the DAV, loved photography, enjoyed traveling to see his family, and was an ND basketball fan. He served his country during WW II in the U.S. Army.
