MISHAWAKA - Bernard "Bernie" A. Krauser, 80, of Mishawaka, passed away Thursday morning, July 3, 2008, in St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, South Bend. Bernie was born February 10, 1928, in South Bend, a son of the late Earl and Mary (Snyder) Krauser.

He grew up in South Bend and graduated from Central High School in 1945.

On June 21, 1947, Bernie married Helen T. Holderman. The couple lived in South Bend until moving to Portage, Michigan in 1973 and they retired to Mishawaka in 1993.

Bernie was employed in wholesale refrigeration sales with Langsenkamp's in South Bend and Young Supply in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Bernie was a member of St. Monica Catholic Church in Mishawaka. Related to his work, he was a member of RSES. At one time, he was active with Northside Little League and served as president. Bernie was a Notre Dame and Chicago Cubs fan. His favorite pastime was fishing.

Bernie's surviving family includes his wife of 61 years, Helen; three children, Sheri (Steve) Vermilyea of Toledo, Ohio, Becky Sciba of Mishawaka and Brad Krauser of Mishawaka; four grandchildren, Rodney and Ryan Sciba, Tabetha Ronfeldt and Michelle Stambaugh; and four great-grandchildren. Bernie was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Krauser.

Friends may spend time with Bernie's family today (Saturday) from 9 to 11 a.m. in Thallemer, Goethals & Wells Funeral Home, 503 W. Third Street, Mishawaka. Services will be held at 11 a.m., in the funeral home with Rev. Jeffery Largent officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger. Memorials are suggested to St. Monica Catholic Church. Envelopes are available in the funeral home.
