Robert Latimer

July 13, 1925 - June 24,2013

Robert Latimer, 87, long-time resident of Niles Township, passed away peacefully on June 24, 2013, in Madera, Calif. Bob was born in Galena, Ill., on July 13, 1925, and grew up in South Bend, Ind.

He served as a Marine in WWII and Korea, earning two citations and a Purple Heart. Bob was a welder and steel worker by trade, working two jobs most of his life in order to support his family.

He is survived by his sons, Larry and Kenneth Latimer, and their families. His wife, Midge, died in 2000.

Still, he has spent time with the grandchildren, shopped with his wife, rooted for the Cubs and played golf. He is survived by his sons, Larry and Kenneth Latimer, and their families.

Bob's work ethic and devotion to family, community and country exemplify what it was like to be part of the Greatest Generation.
