She is the daughter of Charles West Caldwell and Blanche A. Kipling. She has one brother, who died from injuries caused by an explosion while he was saving two other men.
 

She married Herbert Charles Bartlett on August 18, 1917 in Flint, Genesee, Michigan. They have three children.

1910 Census: She was living in St Joseph, Indiana with her parents. She was attending school. She could read and write.
1920 Census: She was living in Genesee, Michigan with her husband. She was a housewife.
1930 Census: She was living in Painesville, Lake, Ohio with her husband and their children. She was a housewife.
1940 Census: She was living in Fruitland, Muskegon, Michigan with her husband and their children.
