Arthur Francis Reasor
April 19, 1900 - Dec. 6, 1998
Arthur Francis Reasor, 98, was born at home in South Bend, Indiana. He was the eldest son of Edward Irvin Reasor and Agnes Elizabeth Schneck.
On June 15, 1929, he married Harriet Eliza Borden, who died on Nov. 7, 1978.
On Nov. 20, 1982, he married Winifred Helen Poehlman Chunn, who survives. He had two daughters, Kathryn Ann Anglin of Honolulu, Hawaii, and Peggy Beth Frierdich of Kanaohe, Hawaii. He is also survived by a sister, Ruth E. VanMeter of South Bend; and by a brother, Richard Robert Reasor, also of South Bend.
Arthur was preceded in death by five siblings, Jessie Florence Hertel, Marian Lucille McDonald, Agnes Glendora Olmstead, Marjory Louella Jackson and Edward Irfin Reasor, Jr.
Arthur graduated from Central High School in 1918. He was employed at the Indiana Lumber Company from 1918 to 1947, of which he was the president/treasurer from 1935-1947. He was a past member of the Stage Hands Union; an electrician at the Ready Theater, Noles, Mich.; and was the projectionist for the first full color motion picture shown at the colfax Theater. He was also a licensed Real Estate Broker in South Bend.
He was a past secretary/treasurer of the Northern Indiana and Southern Michigan Retail Lumber Dealers Association and held the same position in the Optimist Club. He was a Life Member of South Bend Historical Society, was a member of the Indiana Historical Society and the National Genealogy Society. Arthur had been a member of Grace Methodist Church for over 85 years, longer than any other member of the congregation.
Services for Arthur will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday in Forest G. Hay Funeral Home, 435 S. Ironwood, South Bend. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. prior to the service on Thursday.
