Roberta Irene Davis, 92, of South Third Street Niles died at 9:12 am Thursday, Oct 18, 2007 at Lakeland Community Hospital Niles following a brief illness. Funeral services will be held at 1 pm today, Monday Oct 22, at Niles Westside Seventh-day Adventist Church Niles with Pastor John Abbort of the church officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery Berrien Springs. Friends called for two hours before services at the church. She was bom on Nov 10, 1914, in Moline, Ill to Louis Fred Eckhart and Effie Daisy French. She live in Niles since 1935 coming from South Bend, Ind.
She graduated from South Bend Central High School in 1933.
Davis was a member Niles Westside Seventh-day Adventist Church. She enjoyed her life with her husband they were always together for 68 years. Davis was an excellent cook and enjoyed sewing making clothes gardening and expressing her creative side by painting nature scenes.
On June 1, 1939, in South Bend Ind she married Orlie A Davis who survives.
Her surviving family also includes five sisters Kaye M Schieman of South Bend, Ind, Margaret Ann Vosburgh of Niles, Dessie Frisbie of South Bend, Ind, Essie Vem Shipley of Freewater, Ore, and Ona Nancy Sigrist of South Bend, Ind, a brother Charlie Norman Apelgreen of Lakeville, Ind and several nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to Niles Westside Seventh-day Adventist Church Niles or Niles Westside Seventh-day Adventist School.
