NEW CARLISLE - Maxine Beaudway Asbury, 94, passed away Wednesday, May 12, 2010, in New Carlisle, IN. She was born November 7, 1915, in Walkerton, Indiana, daughter of Edward James and Crystal (Schinke) Beaudway Wylie.

She was a graduate of South Bend Central High School, then attended schooling in Chicago, becoming a dental assistant.

On November 2, 1935, she was united in marriage to Joe McCormick Asbury in Plymouth, IN. Unto this union three daughters arrived to bless their home.

Their early years were spent in South Bend, later moving to Newport, IN, where Maxine was employed by the U.S. Postal Service until her retirement. She served several years on the Vermillion County Library Board and was a longtime member of the Newport Methodist Church. She was a devoted wife, loving mother and gracious friend. Her happiest moments were spent with her family, friends, flowers and books.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe, in 1984; her parents; and two brothers, James and George Beaudway.

Survivors include her daughters, Nancy (August) VanWanzeele of New Carlisle, IN, Jill (Bruce) Hutcherson of Patriot, IN, and Judy (Ronald) Milovich of South Bend, IN; her grandchildren, Mary Ellen Smith, Mike (Penny) VanWanzeele, Paul VanWanzeele, Kimberly (Sean) Hutcherson-Janssen, Joeseph (Jeanne) Hutcherson, Andy (Cher) Milovich, Matthew Milovich, Melanie (Alex) Moskowitz, Brian Milovich and Bradley Milovich; her great-grandchildren, David VanWanzeele, Amanda (Jim) Schwingendorf, Scott VanWanzeele, Jason (Flor) Beyer, Christopher Beyer, Kathryn Smith, Bruce VanWanzeele, Madalyn, Carly and Bryce Hutcherson, Maxine Moskowitz and Addison Milovich; and great-great-grandchildren, Carlos and Jason Beyer.

The family requests memorial donations be made to the Newport Park Board, P.O. Box 303, Newport, IN 47966 - Maxine Asbury Memorial. A private memorial service will be held by the immediate family at a later date. The body has been donated to Indiana University Medical School (www.iupui.edu).
