Zigmund Kitkowski

Zigmund Kitkowski, 73, of 2643 Summit Ridge, died at 7:45 p.m. Tuesday at the Carlyle Nursing Home after a lengthy illness. He was a pharmacist and the owner of Brookfield Pharmacy for 35 years. Kitkowski was born on Feb. 7, 1905, in South Bend where he lived all his life.

On Nov. 3, 1936, he married Helen Balasa. She survives with two daugters, Mrs. Margaret Walawender of South Bend and Mrs. Mary Hardy of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; a son, George of Tipton, Ohio; 10 grandchildren and four sisters, Bend, Mrs. Clementine Wynn of South Bend Mrs. Isabelle Miller of Elkhart and Mrs. Harriet Gerber of El Monte, Calif.

Kitkowski was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church where he belonged to the Holy Name Society. He also was a member of the Old Timers Druggist Club; St. Joseph Pharmacy Club; St. Joseph Valley Notre Dame Alumni Club, and the Knights of Columbus where he was a 4th degree knight.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Stanislaus Church. Rev. Albin Hosinski, C.S.C, the pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery.
