Ruth N. Caldwell

Ruth N. Caldwell, 95, of Lilac Road, South Bend, Ind., died on Tuesday, July 8, at Memorial Hospital. She was born on April 10, 1902, in South Bend, to , the late Matthew S. and Lillie (Back us) Caldwell.

She was also preceded in death by a brother, Russell, Sr., who died in 1965; and by Justine Caldwell in 1992.

She is survived by a brother, Jack W. Caldwell of South Bend; nephews and nieces, Janice M. Caldwell, Robert W. Caldwell and Barbara Ruth Hall, all of South Bend, Barbara Jo Kingman of Cassopolis, Mich., Becky Caldwell of Cass, Mich., Russell Caldwell, Jr., and Richard J. Caldwell, both of South Bend; great-nieces, Cheryl M. Short of Des Moines, Iowa, Roberta L. Alvina of South Bend, Lynne Goodpaster of Westmont, Ill., Kathleen Garrow of Osceola, Ind., Becky Pittman of Mishawaka, Ind., Tammy Reichanadter South Bend, Ruby Caldwell of Mishawaka, Jerrie Jo Kingman and Marcie Jo Kingman, both of Cassopolis; great-nephews, Rich Hall of Wakarusa, Ind., Steve Hall of South Bend, Dean Caldwell of South Bend, Jeff Caldwell of Mishawaka; and by 12 greatgreat-nieces and 11 great-greatnephews.

Ruth retired from the St. Joseph Public Library in 1967 after 42 years of service.

She was a graduate of Central High School in 1922.
