Dr. Marion W. Hillman

SOUTH BEND - Dr. Marion W. Hillman, a former St. Joseph County coroner, died Sunday at Venice (Fla.) Hospital after an illness. He was 93.
Dr. Hillman, of Venice, served as county coroner from 1948 to 1950 and practiced medicine in South Bend from 1928 through 1963. He retired in 1966 after serving two years as medical director of Beatty Memorial Hospital, Westville. He graduated from Central High School in 1921 and the University of Michigan Medical School in 1927. He was a veteran of the Army Air Corps Medical Corps, serving from 1942 to 1945 in the South Pacific, attaining the rank of lieutenant colonel.
He was a member and president of the St. Joseph County Medical Society and the South Bend Exchange Club. He was born Dec. 6, 1902, in Otis.
On June 15, 1927, he married Helen E. Hensley of Henry County, Iowa. She died in 1971. In 1972, in Florida, he married Dorothy McIntyre. She died in 1992.
Surviving are two sons, Charles W. of South Bend and James E. of Mission Viejo, Calif.; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Services will be at a later date. The National Cremation Society, Sarasota, was in charge of arrangements. Welsheimer Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to Memorial Hospital, South Bend.
