Irene (Calvert) Straw

Irene Calvert Straw, 81, of 2817 W. Ewing Ave. died at 6:30 a.m. Saturday at her home. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N. William St., South Bend.

Mrs. Straw was born March 26, 1904, in South Bend. On Oct. 16, 1926, in Mishawaka, she married Willard E. Straw, who died in 1976.

Surviving are a daughter, Barbara Anne Straw of Plattsburgh, N.Y.; and two brothers, Hamilton E. Calvert of Niles and Charles F. Calvert of Mexico City.

She was a former society editor of the Mishawaka Enterprise, a graduate of South Bend Central High School, a graduate of DePauw University, a member of the American Association of University Women and active in local art circles and civic affairs
