Norman L. (George) Shriver, 54, of 422 E. Chippewa Ave., died at 5 a.m. today in St. Joseph's Hospital of an apparent heart attack. Mr. Shriver was a mercury driver for the brake and steering division, Bendix Corp., having worked there 26 years. Born Jan. 25, 1920, in South Bend, he had lived here his lifetime.

On Aug. 14, 1965, he married Gertrude, (Trudie) Kajzer, who survives. Also surviving are his mother, Mrs. Dorothy Shriver of South Bend; a son, Craig of South Bend; two stepsons, Kenneth Poznanski Atlanta, Ga., and David Poznanski of South Bend; a daughter, Mrs. Susan Wise of South Bend, and Debbie, at home; three grandchildren, and three brothers, Glenn, Laurence and Jack, all of South Bend.

Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in theGuisinger Colonial Chapel where services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday. Rev. Edmund Murray, C.S.C. of the University of Notre Dame will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery.

Mr. Shriver was commander of Post 284, American Legion and a member of Traveling 50, the South Bend Eagles Lodge, and Post 9820, VFW. He was a World War II and Korean conflict army veteran. He also was public relations director for the 3rd District of the American Legion. Memorial contributions may be made to the Knightstown American Legion.
