PRIVATE JEROME C. KING, aged 24, of 2409 Forest Brook road, killed Aug. 1. Private King's, widow Louise, was notified he was killed while fighting on Luzon. He was a pioneer infantryman.
The son of Mr. and Mrs. C. C. King, 1502 McKinley avenue, he entered the army Nov. 15, 1944, and was sent overseas last May, following training at Camp Wallace, Texas. He arrived in the Philippines May 28.
Private King was born in South Bend on Aug. 12, 1920, and married Louise Huffine on June 28, 1939. They have one daughter, Joan, five.
Private King was graduated from Central High school in 1938 and was employed by the' Bendix Aviation corporation before entering service.

The body of Private Jerome C. King, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence C. King, 1502 East McKinley avenue, who died Aug. 1, 1945, on Luzon, P. I., when an ammunition dump exploded, will be returned to South Bend for reinterment. Friends may call in the Hickey funeral home after 7 p.m. Thursday and until funeral services at 9 a.m. Saturday in St. Joseph's Catholic church. Rev. Philip V. Beaghan, C. S.C., pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph Valley Memorial park.
Private King was born in South Bend Aug. 12, 1920.
He attended St. Joseph parochial school and was graduated from Central High school, in 1938. On Nov. 15, 1944, he enlisted in the army at Camp Walters, Texas, and went overseas in April, 1945. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic church.
Besides his parents, he is survived by a sister, Joan, and two brothers, Edward R. and Robert E., all of South Bend
