Winifred Young Edmunds

A memorial service will take place at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 16, 2010, in Lake Oswego United Church of Christ, 1111 Country Club Road, Lake Oswego, to celebrate the life of Wini Edmunds, longtime Wilsonville resident and beloved mother, grandmother, great and friend of rose lovers worldwide. With her late husband, Fred, Wini spent 35 years in the rose business at Roses By Fred Edmunds, Inc., promoting rose growing, supporting the Portland American Rose Society, the Oregon Association of Nurseries, All America Rose Selections, the Portland Rose Festival Association and the Royal Rosarians. Her journalism major from Indiana University gave her the gift of writing and she and Fred published wonderful catalogs with descriptions of roses that are collector's items for their humor and heartfelt love of roses.
Wini is survived by her sister, Mary Rose Dobson of La Pine; daughters, Carol Ann Potter of San Diego, Laura Finney of Junction City and Cynthia Stead of Portland; son, Philip Edmunds of Wilsonville; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
