In Memory
Retired LTC Reverend Deacon Arthur C. Wolford
Apr 3, 1920 - May 8, 2012
Retired LTC Reverend Deacon Arthur C. Wolford left this life for the new life Tuesday, May 8, 2012. Born in South Bend, Ind., April 3, 1920, the son of George Olen and Vera Wolford, Art was 92.
He was a member of the greatest generation. He was a decorated combat pilot in World War II. He flew "The Hump." He was also in the "test" community. He retired with 30 years' service.
He was an ordained deacon in the Episcopal Church for 50 years; his vocation was to the disabled. Unselfish to a fault, he volunteered his time to many organizations - VFW, American Legion, AF&AM, Scottish Rite, Shrine, Disabled Veterans and Boy Scouts of America (he was a past regional director), to name a few.
His committed life of service touched many. Known for his dedication to God and country, personal integrity and a wicked sense of humor, he touched many and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Art was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth, in 2006 and is survived by his son, who teaches overseas.
