Ruth W. Dooley, 95, a retired librarian, died January 26, 2016 at Willow Wood in Fort Lauderdale. Mrs. Dooley was born in South Bend, IN and later resided in West Palm Beach from the early 1950s until 2008, when she moved to Willow Wood in Fort Lauderdale near her step-grandson.

After settling in West Palm Beach, Ruth and her husband Frank co-founded the Symphony Orchestra of the Palm Beaches, the first sizable orchestra in that area, in which she played and he conducted. Ruth worked as a librarian for Palm Beach (Community) College for 33 years, retiring at age 70. She was active in the League of Women Voters, American Association of University Women, Planned Parenthood, and the Republican Party.

Survivors include step-grandchildren, Wayne Dooley of Plantation, FL, Wendy Morlan of Mound City, KS, and Roger Dooley of Winchester, TN.

No calling hours or services are scheduled. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League of West Palm Beach.
