Elsie Mae Inez Walsh

SOUTH BEND Elsie Walsh, 78, formerly of South Bend, Ind., passed away after an extended illness on Wednesday, Sept. 10 at her residence in Port Charlotte, Fla.
Ms. Walsh was born on Sept. 6, 1919, in South Bend, where she made her home until her retirement. She retired from the St. Joseph County Clerks Office, South Bend, after more than 27 years. She was the, "clerk that showed her heritage by wearing a large green wig on St. Patrick's Day at the Clerks office and around South Bend." Elsie was one of the first set of triplets born in South Bend.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Robert W. Walsh, and her sister, Ethel Walsh.
Ms. Walsh is survived by two sisters, Lillian Richardson of Grand Rapids, Mich., and Hazel Knisley of Port Charlotte, Fla. She is also survived by two nieces, Kathy Oshinski of Grand Rapids, Mich., and Mary Jo Thurston of Naples, Fla.; and by three nephews, Michael C. Walsh of South Bend, Ind., Robert 'Sam' Walsh of Granger, Ind., and Thomas Knisley of Port Charlotte, Fla. She is also survived by great-nephews and great-nieces.
Ms. Walsh was a former member of Holy Cross Church.
Friends may call from 11 to noon on Monday at the Hickey Funeral Home, 3516 E. Jefferson Blvd., South Bend. Services will be held at noon. Burial will be at Highland Cemetery.
