June (Vermande) Moffett

June Vermande Moffett, 93 of South Bend passed away January 16, 2014 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka. She was born March 6, 1920 in South Bend to the late Leona (Isbel) and Robert J. Vermande.
On February 14, 1942 in Sunnyside Presbyterian Church she married William Paul Moffett who died February 16, 2011. June was also preceded in death by her son Michael Moffett and her siblings Robert, William, and Thomas Vermande. She is survived by her daughter Rebecca J. Moffett- Moore (David) of Portage, MI., sons Jonathan Moffett (Faith Okuma) of Albuquerque, NM, and Peter Moffett (Linda) of South Bend; 11 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren.
June was a domestic engineer and a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and caring friend. She was baptized, confirmed and married at Sunnyside Presbyterian Church and through the many years was an active member of the church. June volunteer at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center and logged over 4,088 hours as a volunteer. June was a Den Mother for Cub Scout Pack 452 from 1958 thru 1970 and received the Silver Fawn award in 1971.
A celebration of her life will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday March 8, 2014 in Sunnyside Presbyterian Church 115 S. Frances St. Friends may visit with the family in the church from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service. In memory of June, memorial contributions may be made to Sunnyside Presbyterian Church or Boy Scouts of America, LaSalle Council 1340 South Bend Ave. South Bend, IN 46617.
