Death Claims A. J. Tyler At Age 52
Aug 3, 1920 - May 9, 1973
A. Joseph Tyler, 52, of 18631 S. Cypress Circle, died at 5:35 p.m. Wednesday in Memorial Hospital after a week's illness. He was a vice-president of the insurance division of Associates of South Bend. He was born Aug. 3, 1920, in South Bend, and had lived here all his life. On March 6, 1947, in South Bend, he married Ardell Hass, who survives.
Also surviving are his mother, Mrs. Ellen A. Tyler of South Bend; three sons, Terry J. of Indianapolis, Jeffrey S. a South Bend City police cadet, and Steven M., at home; a daughter, Marcia D., also at home and a sister, Mrs. Richard Jennings of South Bend.
Friends may call after 2 p.m. Friday at the Welsheimer Funeral Home, 521 N. William St. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Rev. Walter D. Oberholtzer, D.D., pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery.
Tyler was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church and its Church Council. He was a past president of the Independent Insurance Agents Assn., and had been active in the East Side Little League. He graduated from DePauw University in 1932, and was a member of Delta Chi National Social Fraternity. He served as a captain in the Army Air Corps during World War II.
