Carl H. Thompson, 68, of Lafayette, Ind., formerly of South Bend, died at 1 a.m. Wednesday in his home after an illness. Mr.

Thompson 1 was a retired industrial arts teacher and a former teacher for the Penn-Harris-Madison School Corp. He was born Sept. 2, 1920, in South Bend and lived in Lafayette for 15 years.

In 1977, in Lafayette, he married Letha Simpson Bowman, who survives. Also surviving are three sons, Dennis of Stockdale, Texas, and Ronald and James, both of San Antonio, Texas; a stepson, Michael Bowman of Frankfort, Ind.; six grandchildren; a greatgrandchild; and brother, Philip E. of South Bend.

There will be no services or visitation. Cremation will take place. Hippensteel Funeral Home, Lafayette, is in charge of arrangements
