Robert Lee Swaney Sr.

Robert Lee Swaney, Sr., age 88 of Lake Station, IN passed away on Thursday, August 6, 2009 in Plymouth, IN. He was born on January 20, 1921 in Williamsport, IN to William and Alice (Foster) Swaney, who preceded him in death.

Robert is survived by loving wife of 68 years, LaVerda Swaney of Lake Station, IN; son, Robert Swaney Jr. of Georgia; daughters: Suzanne McPhearson of Portage, IN and Mary Flores of Plymouth, IN; 11 grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren.

Robert was an area resident for 50 years. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Hobart, IN. Robert worked as a self-employed Printer and was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps serving during World War II. He loved fishing, hunting and camping and enjoyed golf. He will be loved and missed by his family, friends and neighbors.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 11, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home Portage Chapel, 6941 Central Ave., Portage, IN. Burial will follow at McCool Cemetery, Portage, IN. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 11, 2009 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at 1:00 p.m.
