Carl F. Shedrick

Carl F. Shedrick Of the Methodist Country House, formerly of Foulk Woods, died Wednesday February 16, 2000 at age 79.

Born in South Bend, Indiana, Mr. Shedrick graduated from Purdue University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering in 1942, where he was a member of Pi Kappa Phi fraternity. He received a Master of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the Columbia University, NY in 1948.

An employee for 43 years of the DuPont Company, Mr. Shedrick began his career in 1942 at the Arlington, NJ plastics research laboratory. He moved to Wilmington in 1950, and worked at DuPont's Experimental Station as a research engineer in the plastics department; transferred to the Wilmington office in 1954; and in 1973 transferred to the petrochemical department in the business financial analysis section. Mr. Shedrick retired in 1985.

Mr. Shedrick was an active member of the Purdue Club of Delaware, serving as president of that organization. A Mason, he was a member of St. Joseph's Lodge of South Bend, Indiana. He was a member for 50 years of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers. Mr. Shedrick was active for many years in the Concord Baseball League, and was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church.

Mr. Shedrick is survived by his wife of 53 years, Peggy; a daughter, Susan Biddle of Binghamton, NY; and sons, Donald of Greenville, DE and Richard of Mendon, VT. He has 5 grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at Westminster Presbyterian Church, Pennsylvania Avenue and Rodney Street, Wilmington, DE at 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 19. A private interment will be at Lower Brandywine Cemetery.
