Margaret L. (Schantz) Bingham

ELKHART -- Margaret L. Bingham, 87, of Elkhart, died at 2:40 a.m. Monday (Feb. 25, 2008) in Golden Living Center.
She was born May 2, 1920, in Bruckrachdorf, Germany, to Wilson B. and Caroline (Wiegel) Schantz. She married Norman A. Bingham on Jan. 7, 1972, in Vandalia, Ga. He died Dec. 1, 2007, in Elkhart.
Mrs. Bingham is survived by one son, Robert Schulz of South Bend; one stepdaughter, Patricia (Tom) Waidner of Osceola; one stepson, Benjamin Bingham of Elkhart; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Raymond B. Schantz of Edwardsburg, Mich.; and two sisters, Helen (Arthur) Mayhew of Simpsonville, S.C., and Elsie (Howard) Doughton of Buchanan, Mich. She was preceded in death by one brother.
Friends may call two hours prior to Thursday's noon funeral service at Billings Funeral Home, 812 Baldwin St. The Rev. Joe Smith of Dunlap United Methodist Church will officiate. Private burial will follow in Mission Hill Memorial Gardens, Niles, Mich.
Mrs. Bingham was a graduate of Memorial Hospital of Nursing. She was a retired registered nurse who had worked in Florida and Indiana. She was a member of AARP, the Friendly Pioneers of Elkhart, Memorial Nurses Alumni Association, Dunlap United Methodist Church and the Super Seniors at the church. She was a former member of Eastern Star Chapter 2 in South Bend. Mrs. Bingham enjoyed traveling, bus trips and visiting different places.
