Sarah “Sally” (Reed) Hayden Fisher

Mrs. Sarah “Sally” Hayden Fisher, 83, of South Bend, Indiana, died Monday, September 29, 2003, at 10:15 a.m. in Memorial Hospital, South Bend, after an extended illness.
She was born in South Bend April 6, 1920, the daughter of Fred W. and Sarah (Knox) Reed, both of whom preceded her in death. Sally married Frederick R. Hayden July 14, 1945, in Cassopolis, Michigan, where they lived for many years. He died October 21, 1967. In 1973 she married Gerald M. Fisher, and he died in 1987.
Surviving are two children, Linda L. Hayden of Castle Rock, Colorado, and Robert R. Hayden and his wife, Mary of Granger, Indiana; and three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
A brother, Fred Reed, died in 1967.
Sally was a school teacher for many years, having taught kindergarten at the Vandalia and Squires schools, and she had also served as the principal at the Geneva and Red Brick schools. Sally loved playing bridge with her friends, and she and Fred enjoyed attending the Cassopolis Dance Club parties for many years. In 1973 she moved with Gerald to Niles, Michigan, and in 1980 they moved to Fort Myers, Florida, where Sally lived until moving back to the South Bend area in 1998, where she lived until her death.
