SOUTH BEND - Services for Earl W. Paffenbach, 74, of Club Drive, who died at 11:45 p.m. Tuesday in St. Joseph's Medical Center, will be at 2p.m. Home, 521 Saturday N. in William Welsheimer Burial Funeral will be in Highland Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to p.m. Friday the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society or American Heart Association. Mr. Paffenbach from the South Bend Community School Corp. retired, as a teacher and also from the South Bend Police Department as safety education director. He was born Oct. 11, 1920, in South Bend.

On July 18, 1945, in South Bend, he married Doris A. Frain. She survives with a daughter, Jill E. Bainbridge of Sparta, N.J.; two grandchildren; and two sisters, Mardell Henry of Hot Springs, Ark., and Lois Elbel of Lees Summit, Mo.

He was a veteran of World War II and a member of Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 36 Disabled American Veterans, Indiana State Retired Teachers Association St. Joseph County Retired Teachers Association
