Dr. James H. Naus, DDS
September 26, 1920 – October 22, 2003
Dr. James H. Naus, Jr, 83, residing on Topsfield Road, South Bend, IN passed away at 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, October 22, 2003 at Hospice House, South Bend. Dr. Naus served his patients and friends in the community for 45 years.
He was born on September 26, 1920 in South Bend, IN to James Harold and Lydia Frances (Mills) Naus and was a lifelong resident.
On August 22, 1942 in Chicago, IL he married Peggy Lee Bridges. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years; one daughter and son-in-law, Nancy Naus (John) King of South Bend; two sons and their wives, James (Susan) Naus of Indianapolis, and David Hugh (Julie) Naus of Evergreen, CO; seven grandchildren, Anne Naus (Chris) Kelley, Lynne Marie Naus, Matthew David King, Marcus Bennett King, Nicholas Bridges Naus, Christine Leigh Naus and Charles Carson Naus; and one sister, Marsha Jane Mayse of Goshen, IN.
Dr. Naus was a member of First Presbyterian Church, South Bend; Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity and Morris Park Country Club. He volunteered at Children’s Dispensary for 25 years and tutored for ten years with the Literacy Council. Dr. Naus served during World War II in the Navy Dental Corp- Marines. He was a graduate of DePauw University and Northwestern Dental School.
Memorial services for Dr. Naus will be held at 2:00 p.m.Sunday, October 26, 2003 at First Presbyterian Church, 333 W. Colfax, South Bend. Rev. David Morrow, pastor of the church will officiate. The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall.
