Sarah E. (Moffett) Wallace, 95, passed away at 11:40pm Wednesday, June 3, 2015 in the Sanctuary at St. Paul's. Sarah was born on January 31, 1920 in Warren County, Indiana to Raleigh and Grace (Shaul) Moffett. She was employed by Studebaker and also worked several years for credit stores.
On January 27, 1945 in South Bend she married Charles Wallace. He died on December 19, 1995. She was also preceded in death by four brothers Morris, Byron, Maxwell and Paul, two sisters Evelyn and Betty and her niece whom also was her close friend, Joann (Moffett) Harper.
She is survived by her nieces and nephews: one niece Sharon (Moffet) Carr-Eaton and her husband James Eaton who were extremely close for the last 20 years and they will miss her terribly, and another niece who will miss her terribly, a close and very special niece is Sherry (Dan) Ahrens of Valparaiso. Another niece she felt close to is Rhonda White. Other nieces and nephews who will miss her are Rick (Phyllis) Moffett, Marilyn (Moffett) Smith of Illinois, Pete (Linda) Moffett, Jon (Faith) Okuma-Moffett of Arizona, Becki (David) Moffett-Moore of Michigan, Bob (Nancy) Moffett, Pat (Leroy) Zakrocki of Florida, David (Patty) Gill, Karla (Bill) Cramer, her best friends Ruth Maxwell and Marge Fisher and several great-nieces and nephews.
Sarah belonged to Sigma Alpha Sorority and in 1951 joined the Delta Zeta Chapter. She worked with the Red Cross for 15 years and was past president of Auxiliary 284. Sarah belonged to the Moose and loved fishing, mushroom hunting, reading, garage sales and playing euchre. She also loved to shop for clothes and shoes and would always be dressed up and looking wonderful with her accessories, which would include her purse, earrings shoes, etc. She also liked to play her portable piano. You could tell her a song and she could play it from memory. People could not get over how well she dressed and looked for her age. Sarah watched soap operas and watched how they dressed and what jewelry they wore so she could be in style. What a gal !!
Cremation has taken place. There will be a private memorial for family and friends
