Donald E. Litherland

Donald E. Litherland, 60, of 505 N. St. Louis, died at 8:15 a.m. Sunday in St. Joseph's Medical Center after a seven-month illness. He was a former employee of Drewery's, Ltd., and an employee of ACCO Industries. Born on Nov. 22, 1920, in El Dorado, Kan., he lived in South Bend most of his life.

On Aug. 30, 1968, in South. Bend, he married Mary Mahan. She survives along with five daughters, Miss Sharon Litherland of Buchanan, Mrs. Mary Young, Miss Melissa Litherland and Miss Michele Litherland, all of South Bend, and Mrs. Eileen Kanewske of Houston, Tex.; two sons, Donald E. Jr. of South Bend and Larry of Buchanan; a stepson, Arthur Pletcher of Mishawaka; eight grandchildren; and a brother, Dale Litherland of California.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Hollis-Palmer Funeral Home, 2528 Mishawaka Ave. Rev. Max B. Hayden, pastor of St. Peter's United Church of Christ, will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.

He was a World War II Air Force veteran, a former commander of American Legion Post 303 and a member of UAW Local 5
