SOUTH BEND - Irene M. Wcisel, 90, of South Bend, IN, passed away at 12:00 a.m., Saturday, June 25, 2011 at Caring Junction, Mishawaka, IN. Irene was born on July 29, 1920 in South Bend to Joseph and Kathryn (Pawlak) Kapalczynski, and was a lifelong resident.

Irene was a member of St. Stanislaus Parish. She had been employed as an inspector at Bendix before she was married. On July 19, 1947, in St. Stanislaus Church, Irene married Aloysius Wcisel. Aloysius preceded her in death on October 24, 1996. Survivors include her daughter, Mary Wcisel of Mishawaka, IN; two sons, Thomas (Karren) Wcisel of Naperville, IL and James (Janet) Wcisel of St. Joseph, MI; one grandson, Brian Wcisel of Minneapolis, MN; one sister, Henrietta Kocy of South Bend, IN; and one brother, Ralph (Angie) Kapalczynski of St. Joseph, MI.

She had been employed by the former Wharf Restaurant. She enjoyed cooking, cookouts with steaks on the grill, playing bingo and cards.

Friends may call from 4 until 8 p.m. Wednesday in the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, where a parish rosary will be prayed at 4:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 30, 2011 in St. Stanislaus Church. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery.
