Paulmer D.Hunt

Paulmer D.Hunt, 84, of Mishawaka passed away Friday evening in Ironwood Health and Rehabilitation Center, South Bend. He was born March 13, 1919 in Elkhart to Otto and May (Mishler) Hunt. Paulmer grew up in Elkhart and South Bend and was the Salutatorian of the 1938 graduating class of South Bend Central High School. Paulmer earned both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from Notre Dame.
On Aug.31, 1940 in South Bend he married the former Margaret M. Dick.
From 1942-1945 he served his country in the US Army during World War II. Paulmer was employed many years as an Engineer for Allied Signal retiring in 1984. He was a member of the Moose Lodge and the Allied Signal Retiree’s. He enjoyed fishing and reading. Paulmer and Margaret enjoyed many summer vacations at Douglas Lake in northern Michigan.
He was preceded in death by two daughters, Mary Hunt in 1992 and Margaret “Peggy” Goffeney in 1996.
His surviving family includes his devoted wife of nearly 63 years, Margaret;a son-in-law, Fred Goffeney of Niles; a sister, Elizabeth “Beth” Blazier of Hollywood, Fla.; two grandsons, Ben (Heather) Sherman and Sam Sherman; and two great-grandchildren, Ashley Nicole and Aaron Paulmer Sherman.
Private family services will be held at Riverview Cemetery, South Bend. Memorials are suggested to Alzheimer’s Association or Hospice of St.Joseph County. The Hunt family is being served by the Thallemer-Goethals Funeral Home, 503 West Third Street, Mishawaka
