Esther Helene (Hoover) Haack

Esther Helene Haack, 96, of St. Joseph passed away Thursday, Sept. 21, 2017, at her home. Arrangements have been entrusted to Starks & Menchinger Family Funeral Home, 2650 Niles Road., St. Joseph.

Esther was born Oct. 5, 1920, in South Bend to Ralph O. and Goldie Mae “Inez” (Hecht) Hoover. She graduated from South Bend Central High School in 1938.

On June 21, 1941, in Mount Pleasant, Mich., she was married to Ray Warren Haack I, with whom she celebrated 75 years of marriage. Along with raising five children she helped run The Letter Shoppe printing business out of the family home.

Esther is survived by three sons: Craig of St. Joseph, Brian (Betty) of Sister Lakes, Christopher (Victoria) of Arden; two daughters: Carole Fowler and Sally (David) Durr, both of St. Joseph; 12 grandchildren, 14 great- grandchildren, and one great-great grandson.

Esther was preceded in death by her husband; her parents, and siblings.
