Dorothy Louise (Hook) Collmer
Dec. 2, 1919 – April 2, 2006
Dorothy L. Collmer, 86, of South Bend, passed away Sunday morning April 2, in Hospice House. Born December 2, 1919, in Mishawaka to the late Frank Hook and Cora Rodman. Also preceding her were sisters, Gladys, Bess and Frances; brothers, Charles, Lloyd, Lawrence and Ralph.
On July 16, 1938, in South Bend, Dorothy married Aurel E. Collmer who died in 1993.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Cynthia Fodness (David) of South Bend; grandchildren, Stephen D. Fodness (Trina) and her great-granddaughter, Katie of Mishawaka; Christopher D. Fodness (Andrea) of Mishawaka; step grandchildren, Ashley, Nathan and Jared Fuzey.
Mrs. Collmer was a former member of community Congregational Church. She retired as a teller for 1st Source Bank where she worked for 20 years. Dorothy played for the South Bend Blue Sox women’s professional baseball league, loved to read and was a volunteer reader to kindergartners at Madison school after she retired. She belonged to the Sigma Phi Gamma Sorority, loved reading, card playing and was a skilled bridge player. She lived several years at the Milton Home in South Bend and then moved to Southfield Village until her death
