SOUTH BEND — Charles I. Henderson, 72, of 26115 Byron Drive, died at 11:30 a.m. Monday in Michiana Community Hospital. Mr. Henderson was employed by Clemmons Truck Line until 1968 and retired from Spector Freight Lines, Hammond. He was born June 23, 1920, in South Bend, and had currently lived in South Bend since 1977, coming from Sister Lakes, Dowagiac.

On Oct. 1, 1938, in South Bend, he married Marian Johnston. She survives with two daughters Charlotte Bare of Conway, Ark, and Judith Ingrahm of Corbin, Ky.; two sons, Charles B. of South Bend and David of Berrien Springs; 24 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Alice Hastings of Mishawaka.

He was a member of Lydick Lions Club, Teamsters Retirees Local 364 and West Side Church of Christ, and was a former volunteer for Sister Lakes Fire Department.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in the church. Burial will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in Kaniewski & Sons Funeral Home, and one hour before services on Thursday in the church.
