FORT WORTH — Mary H. West, 97, passed away on Wednesday, May 17, 2017. Graveside: 2 p.m. Friday in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation: Noon to 1 p.m. Friday prior to the service. Memorial Service at First United Methodist Church of Fort Worth to be held in June.
Mary was born on April 28, 1920, in South Bend, Ind., to Harry and Opal Haymaker. She was a World War II Veteran, a retired organist from River Oaks Christian Church of 25 years and retired from the Choir at First UMC of Fort Worth after 20 years of service. She is a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution William Lytle Chapter in Murfreesboro, Tenn. She was a member of the Organ Guild of Fort Worth. Mary was a 59-year breast cancer survivor. She volunteered for 10 years with the American Red Cross at Carswell Hospital helping other woman with breast cancer.
She was preceded in death by her husband, C. Floyd West; her parents; her sister, Elsa; and brother, Bud.
SURVIVORS: Daughters, Mary Lou Veal, Barbara (Robert) Meece, and Carol (Scott) Goossen; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sister, Adele Kirby; and numerous nieces and nephews.
