Joseph M. Fodor

Services for Joseph M. Fodor, 66, of Watersmeet, Mich., formerly of South Bend, who died Friday in Wausau (Wis.) Hospital Center of injuries suffered last Wednesday when he was struck by a car near Land O' Lakes, Wis., were Sunday in Gaffney Funeral Home, Eagle River, Wis. Cremation has taken place. According to Vilas County Sheriff's Department officials, Mr. Fodor was driving on a rural road near Land O' Lakes, when his car slid into a ditch. He was walking across the roadway when he was struck by another car, police said. The other driver was unable to stop on the icy road, according to investigators. Mr. Fodor retired in 1982 from Bendix Corp.
He was born March 3, 1921, in South Bend, and had lived in South Bend until moving to Thousand Island Lake, Mich., upon his retirement.
His wife, the former Rita Dauenhauer, survives. Also surviving are a stepdaughter, Susie Kanicki of Wyatt; four step-grandchildren; two sisters, Helen Krauser and Margaret Shafer, both of South Bend; and a brother, William of South Bend. He was a veteran of World War II and a graduate of South Bend's former Central High School.
