Rosemary M. (DeVreese) Delahanty

Rosemary M. Delahanty, 85, of Mishawaka, Ind., died at 7:45 p.m.Wednesday, June 14, in Holy Cross Care and Rehabilitation Center. Rosemary was born Dec. 25, 1920, in Chicago, Ill.She was a homemaker and lived most of her life here in the South Bend/Mishawaka area.

On April 19, 1941, in South Bend, Ind., she married Edward L.Delahanty Jr. He preceded her in death along with her parents, J.J.“Ed”and Nellie (Hathaway) DeVreese, and her stepmother, Lena DeVreese.

Surviving are two daughters, Mary C.(Lew) Petrasovits of South Bend, Ind., and. Maureen E.(Bill Chelminiak) Delahanty of Mishawaka; sons, Edward L.(Rebecca) Delahanty of Naples, Fla., Michael J.(Susan) Delahanty of Sewickly, Pa., and Patrick D.(Lynette) Delahanty of Elkhart, Ind.;along with 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Friends are calling from 3 to 8 p.m.today in the McGann Hay, University Chapel, 2313 E.Edison Road, South Bend, IN, where a Rosary service will be held at 4:30 p.m. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m.Saturday, June 17, 2006, in St.Joseph Catholic Church at the corner of Hill and LaSalle streets in South Bend.Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery, South Bend. Rosemary graduated from South Bend Central High School, enjoyed antique hunting, and was a member of the St.Joseph Parish Altar Society. Memorial contributions may be made to St.Joseph Catholic Church or to The Center for Hospice and Palliative Care.

The family wishes to express a special thank you to her best friend Katie and all her “ladies” who took such good care of her. Rose will be remembered by those who knew her as a person with a kind and gentle heart who loved her family and her friends.She had a deep and abiding faith that assures us she will forever be at peace, and her children will be forever blessed by this lady we call mom
