George Edward Conteles

George Conteles, 59, of New York City, formerly of South Bend, died Sunday morning at home after a sudden illness. He was the store manager of Bergoff-Goodman, New York. He was born on April 16, 1920, in LaPorte and moved to New York 35. years ago from South Bend.

He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Conteles of Bend.

Private services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Forest G. Hay Funeral Home, 1201 S. Michigan. Joseph D. Stoner, a former first reader of the First Church of Christ, Scientist, Mishawaka, will officiate. Burial will be in Pine Lake Cemetery, La Porte.

He was a 1941 graduate of Indiana University and was a member of First Church of Christ, Scientist of New York City.
