George S. Burke, age 91, died on August 22nd at his home in Clearwater.

George was born October 9th 1920 in South Bend, Indiana to George and Laura Burke. He was a very proud WWll United States Army veteran who received a Field Commission to 2nd Lieutenant. During the war he was stationed in India where he met and married Mavis (Murdoch) Burke.

He was preceded in death by his Father and Mother, (sister) Esther Raabe, (sister) Isabelle Beatty, his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Phyllis and Raymond Murdoch, his grandson Daniel R. Bauer and the love of his life, Mavis D. Burke.

He is survived by, his daughters Mariellen Bauer of Clearwater Florida and Deirdre Burke-Lang of Antioch, Illinois, five grandchildren, Geoffrey (Debbie) Bauer, Oxford, Michigan, Erik (Jen) Bauer, Alto, Michigan, Brandi (Bryan) Kler, Atlanta, Georgia, Derek (Beth Anne) Lang, Antioch, Illinois, and Drew Lang, Antioch, Illinois. His pride and joy are his Great-Grandchildren; Isabel, Audrey, Olivia, Markus, Archer, Burke, Oliver, Camden, Owen, McKenna, Preston, and Harrison.

George was renowned for his "Root Beer Floats". Just ask his Great-Grand-Children!

George moved to Florida in 1982, after he retired from 35 years with Nabisco. He and Mavis lived on Sandkey until moving to the Countryside area.
He has been an active member of Church of The Ascension for 30 years.
