Samuel Williams, 67, of 2210 Hollywood Place, died at 8:05 p.m. Monday in Memorial Hospital of an apparent heart attack. Mr. Williams was employed for 38 years at Drewrys Brewery and retired from the city parking garage department. He was born Jan. 16, 1919, in Murphysboro, Ill., and lived in South Bend most of his life, coming from Murphysboro.

On Oct. 18, 1938, in South Bend, he married Birdie Elizabeth DeMar, who survives with a daughter, Vonda Anita King of South Bend; six sons, Norval, a South Bend police sergeant, John, a South Bend police corporal, Gilbert and Larry, all of South Bend, William H. of Carson, Calif., and Samuel Jr. of Indianapolis; 20 grandchildren; and four grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in First A.M.E. Zion Church. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday in Clark's Funeral Chapel.

He was a former member of Greater St. John Missionary Baptist Church, a member of St. Peter's Lodge 31, an associate member of the Fraternal Order of Police, and an Army veteran of World War II.
