Kenneth P. Timmons

SOUTH BEND - Kenneth Patrick Timmons, 74, of Santa Rosa. Calif., formerly of South Bend, died Saturday in his home after an illness. Mr. Timmons retired in 1985 as vice president and general manager of the space shuttle's external tank pro gram for Martin Marietta Corp. in New Orleans, La., and was a former employee of Bendix Corp. and Studebaker Corp.

He was born Dec. 18. 1919, in Indianapolis. In 1943, he married Shirley Ann Smith. She survives with two daughters, Jan Timmons and Bonnie Timmons; a sister. Joanna Timmons of Edwardsburg; and two brothers, Robert of South Bend and Joseph T. of Mount Pleas ant, Mich.

He was a veteran of World War II and received two Bronze Stars. He was a graduate of the University of Notre Dame and Stanford University.
