Kenneth E. Shafer

Kenneth E. Shafer, 69, of 1501 E. Ireland Road, died at 4:21 a.m. Sunday in his home.

Mr. Shafer was a former employee of Bendix Corp. He had worked in the Engineering Division. He was born July 1, 1919, in South Bend, and was a lifelong area resident.

On June 28, 1941, in South Bend, he married Irene Berger, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Nancy Tompkins of South Bend and Bonnie Jenks of Largo, Fla.; a son, Kenneth Jr. of Columbia, Md.; six grandchildren; and a niece, Shirley Burke of Edwardsburg.

He was a veteran of World War II and a member of Masonic Lodge 675 F&AM.
