Maxine V. (Schrader) Cooke

Mrs. Maxine V. Cooke, 76, of Southwood Ave., passed away at 4:45 a.m. Saturday in her residence. Mrs. Cooke was born on Jan. 2, 1918, to Benjamin F. and Ruth Marie (Nickerson) Schrader in Gary, Ind. and had lived in South Bend since 1936, coming from New Carlisle.
Mrs. Cooke was retired as a sales clerk with Robertson's Department Store and was a homemaker.
She is survived by her son, David L. Cooke of South Bend; four grandchildren; Stephanie Stowe of Niles, Mich., Cullen Cooke and Brian Ivy, both of South Bend and Damon Batz of Granger, Ind.; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Joan Wiltfong of New Carlisle; and two brothers, Benjamin Schrader of Mishawaka and Frederick Schrader of Sparta, Miss.
Services for Mrs. Cooke will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in HollisOrvis-Palmer Fuenral Home, 2528 Mishawaka Ave. Rev. Sam Oliver of Hospice will officiate. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.
Mrs. Cooke was a member of South Bend Elks Lodge 235. Memorial contributions may be given to Hospice of St. Joseph County.
