SOUTH BEND - Services for Odell "Duke" Newburn, 73, of 110 N. Carlisle St., who died at 2:04 a.m. Thursday in Memorial Hospital, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church.

Burial will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday in the church. Clark's Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the church building fund.

Mr. Newburn was president protem of the St. Joseph County Council, retired from AM General Corp., and was past president of United Auto Workers Local 5. He was April 18, 1918, in Henderson, Tenn., and lived in South Bend since 1927, coming from Henderson.

On Sept. 9, 1950, in South Bend, he married Ramel Pauline Vincent. She survives with five daughters, Diane Newburn and Jessie Richardson, both of South Bend, Sharyn Newburn-White of Inglewood, Calif., Segnora Newburn of Los Angeles, and Delano Newburn-Stewart of Indianapolis; a son, Odell Jr. of Inglewood; five grandchildren; two greatgrandchildren; a sister, Mary E. Love of South Bend; and a brother, James W. of South Bend.

He was a member of the church, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9733, and a veteran of the Navy.
