Donald E. Meyer passed away on September 14, 2018 at the age of 98. Don was born on September 8, 1920 to Heinrick Meyer and Henrietta Boettcher in South Bend, Indiana.

He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Valerie C. Meyer, his parents, three brothers, and a sister.

He is survived by his daughter, Janice Meyer of Houston, Texas; his son, Mark Meyer and his wife Marie of Houston, Texas; his sister, Ruth Wagner of North Mankato, Minnesota; and several nieces and nephews.

Don proudly served in the U.S. Army Air Forces during World War II. While stationed at the Laredo Army Air Field, he and Valerie met. After the war, they eventually settled in Hebbronville, where they lived for 35 years before moving to New Braunfels. Don and Valerie were active in the First United Methodist Churches in Hebbronville and New Braunfels. Don was a master carpenter and wholesale petroleum distributor before retiring and he enjoyed crafting beautiful furniture for years after retirement. After moving to New Braunfels, Don and Valerie took ballroom dancing lessons and spent
many happy hours dancing. Don was a 32° Mason and was very active in Shriners activities, particularly shuttling kids between San Antonio and the Shriners Burns Institute. He also was an active member of the Noon Lions and could be found directing traffic at their Wurstfest parking lot well into his 80's. He lived a full and joyful life and will be greatly missed.
