Donald Edward Bickel

NILES - Masonic rites for Don E. Bickel, 62, of 1159 Shady Shore Drive, who died unexpectedly Sunday at Pawating Hospital, will be held 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Pifer-Smith Funeral Home by South Bend Lodge 294, F & AM. Burial will be in Silverbrook Cemetery.

Friends may call after 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, and any time Wednesday. He was born Jan. 3, 1920 in South Bend, and moved to Niles 12 years ago from South Bend. He was a truck driver for Bendix Trucking Division of South Bend.

On June 10. 1972, in Niles, he married Donna M Smith. She survives along with a stepson, Gary Brown of Dallas, Texas; eight grandchildren; a grandson, Gary Wayne Brown, with whom he lived; and two sisters, Mrs. Romona Silvey of Santa Anna, Calif. and Mrs. Margaret Cornwell of South Bend.

He was a Marine veteran of World War II. He was affiliated with the Saladin Temple of Grand Rapids, and was a member of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Consistory Valley of South Bend.
